5 out of 5 stars Great activity for your child and a stylish toy   December 15, 2008

My 8 year old daughter wanted a model kit to put together. Given that I didn't want her messing with glue, scalpel blades, or paint for her first model kit, I figured that this would be a great introduction into putting a car together. br / br /The die cast body, plastic base and rubber tires are true to scale and detail. br / br /WHAT IS IN THE BOX? br / br /Die cast metal body br /Plastic wheels (gray and chrome) br /Rubber tires br /Decals br /Screwdriver br /Component Parts (seats, engine, steering wheel, gear shift, mirrors) br /Full color instructions br / br /ASSEMBLY br / br /The assembly is the educational aspect of the item. The nice thing is that you don't need glue! Parts just snap right in. br / br /The packaging was frustration free with just a few strips of tape holding the various parts. The instructions are straightforward. My daughter was able to assemble this toy within 20 minutes (including opening the package). br / br /CONSTRUCTION br / br /The die-cast metal body allows the doors to open. The glossy finish is durable and easy to wipe down. Although my daughter intends on playing with this item, it is suitable for a collector to display in a case. br / br /The wheels are interchangeable and the process is easy. The placement of the tires was the most challenging part for my daughter to assemble. br / br /VERDICT br / br /This is a fun activity for an entry into assembling model cars. The construction of the model is great for displaying or for an older child to play with. br / br /However, given the small parts, caution should be taken if you have younger children (under 6) and pets). br / br /Highly recommend.

4 out of 5 stars Expensive toy for present   July 1, 2010

Well, it's a toy to display on your shelf if you like sport vehicles. The assembly took about 10-15 min because the manual is horrible. Overall quality is good. It could be a good present for boys or car fans. There is nothing to say more.

3 out of 5 stars Why does it cost more than assembled units if I have to assemble it myself?!?!   November 1, 2009

Pros: br /- Second set of rims br /- Rubber tires br /- Front wheels turn br /- Diecast painted body. br /- Hard to find 1/24 scale Ferrari diecast models. br / br /Cons: br /- Missing side-windows just like most diecast models. Why is that?!?! br /- Front wheels need alignment. br /- Engine hood does not open. br /- Some loose parts. Had to re-attached a few parts a couple more times like one of the bucket seats because it keeps falling off when screwing the bottom. End up hot-gluing them. br /- Expensive. Why does it cost more than an assembled diecast unit? Similar diecast products just like Jada Toys even other Maisto diecast that comes assembled are $5-8 cheaper. The quality and the detail are comparable. Shouldn't it be cheaper since I have to assemble it myself and spend 20-30 minutes of my own time? Please don't use the educational value as an excuse since the essential parts (like the engine) are pre-fabricated. br /- Assembling the unit may lead to missing parts if not handled properly. Obviously not good when small kids are around. br /- Would rather have it come assembled.
